With a delayed flight of departure I became more and more thrilled of my soon to be adventure. A sweet mystery was in store, and I couldn’t wait for my extended flight to bring me to my destination. Mike greeted me with open arms excited for my arrival after being in Hawaii for the past 5 days with members of the Red Bull Skateboarding team. I think he was ready and prepared to be my personal tour guide.
Our adventures began at Alamo rental cars, where we were greeted with an Aloha and an upgrade to a mini SUV from a small compact car at a suitable rate. We were gleaming in our gold American Chevy and this would be where our picture documentation and mini adventure begins.
First stop, the Red Bull beach houses where we were so very grateful to be able to stay for free during our 3-night stay. It was perfect, a full kitchen, a full bath and clean linens. From there we decided on a beach picnic to begin our afternoon and made a quick stop for picnic eats and drinks.
Wowzers, I was mesmerized upon my first day of arrival! A surreal place to say the least and I was determined to make the most of my 3 nights, 2-full day stay in Oahu Island.
On our second day we went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay Nature Park. Which was declared a protected marine life conservation area and underwater park in 1967. The best protected cove for snorkeling with a diverse population of marine life and a large, rich coral reef. The bay floor is actually the crater of an ancient volcano that flooded when the exterior wall collapsed and the ocean rushed in. We snorkeled and bathed in the sun all day and in the evening enjoy frozen coconut cocktails by the ocean at Dukes. On our final full day we hopped in our golden mobile and headed to the North Shore. First stop the Dole Pineapple Plantation, where I picked an oyster and got my first/real pearl...I was psyched from the start. From there our episode at the Plantation lead to feeding Koe fish, taking a small train ride around the Plantation and enjoying frozen pineapple yogurt before our departure. Lastly was Cholo’s, a famous Mexican restaurant owned by the same Cholo who is infamous for Cholo’s Bowl, a skate park of many connected (swimming) pool’s.
Departure day went quick, had breakfast in our PJ’s, cleaned up the rooms we boarded, return our golden rental and headed to the HNL airport to make travels back to LA.In closure to this mini memoir, I enjoyed myself fully and I wanted to share with my friends and family a few moments upon my mini adventure.
